Children’s Behaviour Support Training & Services
Producing better outcomes by equipping staff with the knowledge, skills and confidence to respond to traumatised children who present behaviours of concern.
With an un-paralleled expertise in residential children’s homes, fostering agencies, as well as working with individual families, we are committed to reducing the use of restrictive practices and improving the quality of life for vulnerable children and young people.
It goes without saying how challenging it can be looking after some of the most vulnerable people in our society; the personal and emotional cost can sometimes be very high. More than ever, support workers are encountering children with complex needs and behaviours that present risks to both themselves, those providing the care and the wider public. How well organisations respond to behaviours of concern has a direct impact on placement outcomes as well as the morale of those who provide the support.
Whether triggers such as family contact, a change of group dynamics within the home or the revisiting of past trauma, children can quickly find themselves in situations where they can no longer regulate their behaviour, placing themselves and others at risk.
Our range of Positive Approaches to Challenging Behaviour courses equip children’s workers with the knowledge, skills and confidence to practice safely, understand and respond appropriately to behaviours of concern, resulting in better outcomes and reducing the likelihood of placement breakdown.
With a knowledge base rooted in Positive Behaviour Support and trauma informed practice our courses provide a human rights and person-centred framework that recognises the importance of promoting dignity, choice and inclusion for those being supported. Coupled with a range of primary, secondary and tertiary strategies, PRICE Training equips delegates to make sense of behaviour and respond positively to reduce the use of restraint.
Where support workers need to physically intervene, we have over 100 breakaways and holding techniques; from low arousal responses to 1, 2, 3 and 4 person holds that can quickly and safely restore stability.
Since its inception in 1994, PRICE Training has been synonymous with providing quality certified training and support across the spectrum of children’s services throughout the UK.
How to acquire the skills you need
Delegate Courses
One of our certified senior trainers visits your organisation or a suitable local venue and delivers a closed course for up to 12 persons (or 2 : 18). Delegate courses range from 1 – 5 days in duration.
Train the Trainer
Our Instructor course (train the trainer) is an initial 5 day course. Upon successful completion, this course allows the candidate to return to their organisation and cascade certified training as frequently as they so choose. There is also a number of future developmental opportunities for Instructors to develop their knowledge and skill-set via ‘top-up’ courses.
