Positive Approaches to Challenging Behaviour

Certification	RRN certified training with approved curricula.
Aimed at	Those who support children and young people from the ages of 5 to 18 who display behaviours of concern as a result of either past trauma, autism, learning disabilities or unidentified needs. Courses are tailored to your setting (e.g. children’s homes, secure facilities, foster care).
Course Level	Foundation, Intermediate & Advanced (subject to course design)
Course Duration	1 – 5 days (Course duration and curricula will be determined by a Training Needs Analysis)
Delegates : trainer ratio	12:1 (RRN certified) 15:1 or 24:2 non-RRN certified services
Physical Intervention Techniques	A range of breakaway and holding techniques included (minimum of 2-day courses)
Validity Period	1 year – annual refresher required
Pre-Course Requirements	No prior learning required
Delivery Type	Face to face (theory content can be delivered virtually)
Venue	Closed course – provided by customer organisation Open course – Worcester

Become a ‘train the trainer’

PRICE Training offers a range of certified instructor courses that license you to cascade our 2-5 day PACB^© Courses within your own organisation.

Trainees are encouraged to explore and think critically and creatively around the technical aspects of the subject matter, with key issues such as judgement and technique application being explored. Through the use of micro-teaching and subsequent peer feedback, trainees develop an ability and confidence to replicate and articulate newly acquired skills. Continuous assessment is used throughout train the trainer courses, as well as a final assessment by a person independent of the course.

Initial Instructor Course (Positive Approaches to Challenging Behaviour)

Certification	RRN certified training with approved curricula.
Aimed at	Those organisations that require a more cost-efficient way of training their staff in our range of children’s services PACB^© courses. Upon successful completion, the candidate is licensed to cascade certified training as frequently as they so choose within their organisation. Having your own ‘in-house’ trainer also enables the organisation to respond dynamically to the changing needs of the population supported and deliver additional training as and when needed.

Learning Outcomes	Delegates will: build upon the existing knowledge and skills acquired from their PACB^© foundation course as well as gain a range of new skills and additional techniques become highly competent in disseminating knowledge and skills to staff groups which consist of individuals with varying levels of experience and a range of learning styles develop a good understanding of the importance of coaching skills in the adult learning environment be skilled in assessing the competency of staff under their instruction become skilled in producing and reviewing Course Delivery Plans and quality Individual Behaviour Support Plans learn to utilise a range of quality assurance tools

Instructor Plus Course (Positive Approaches to Challenging Behaviour)

Certification	RRN certified training with approved curricula.
Aimed at	Those Instructors within organisations that seek to access a further range of breakaway and holding techniques in order to further enhance their workforce skillsets, equipping them to respond to more elevated risk situations.

Course Duration	2 Days
License Validity Period	1 year – annual 2-day refresher required
Pre-Course Requirements	Must have successfully completed a PACB^© 5 day Initial Instructor Course
Delivery Type	Face to face
Venue	Worcester (or closed course at customer venue)

Advanced Instructor Course (Positive Approaches to Challenging Behaviour)

Certification	RRN certified training with approved curricula. (subject to final course curricula)
Aimed at	Those individuals who work in acute need service where the highest of elevated risk situations frequently occur (e.g. displays of aggression, violence and self-harm). The content of this course can be tailored to specific settings (e.g. Secure Accommodation) (Course duration and curricula will be determined by a Training Needs Analysis)
