Behaviour Support Training For Schools
Our Schools Programme course equips teaching staff with the knowledge, skills and confidence to safely respond to situations where the behaviour of individuals or groups is impeding learning.
We deliver certified training and support across a range of educational settings; mainstream schools, academies, special educational provisions and residential schools. Our Schools Programme provides a framework within which teachers and support staff can feel confident and skilled to understand and respond to behaviours of concern to reduce the likelihood of situations escalating and becoming unsafe for all concerned.
Today’s schools and classroom settings can be complex environments for teachers and support staff, with many children coming to school unprepared for learning, bringing with them trauma and upset associated with home life, peer groups or other personal difficulties.
Spending disproportionate time with unsettled and disruptive pupils impacts on the learning environment for others as well as leaving pupils feeling more disenfranchised with school and questioning their self-worth. In some instances, serious incidents can occur leaving teachers, support staff or pupils hurt or injured.
Our Schools Programme course equips teaching and support staff with the knowledge, skills and confidence to understand and safely respond to situations where the behaviour of individuals or groups is impeding the learning opportunity of others as well as circumstances that escalate to a situation that requires immediate action to be taken to protect both the safety of pupils and teaching staff.
With a knowledge base rooted in Positive Behaviour Support and trauma informed practice, our courses provide a human rights and person-centred framework that recognises the importance of promoting dignity, choice and inclusion for those being supported. Coupled with a range of primary, secondary and tertiary strategies, PRICE Training equips delegates to make sense of behaviour and respond positively to reduce the use of restraint.
Where staff need to physically intervene, we have over 100 breakaways and holding techniques; from low arousal responses to 1, 2 person holds that can quickly and safely return stability.
How to acquire the skills you need
Delegate Courses
One of our certified senior trainers visits your school or a suitable local venue and delivers a closed course for up to 12 persons (or 2 : 18). The SafeSchools programme is modular and can be delivered over a number of twilight and weekend sessions.
Train the Trainer
Our Instructor course (train the trainer) is an initial 5 day course. Upon successful completion, this course allows the candidate to return to their organisation and cascade certified training as frequently as they so choose. There is also a number of future developmental opportunities for Instructors to develop their knowledge and skill-set via ‘top-up’ courses.
